Otherwise, may you enjoy the exquisite pleasure of being reborn as a wax duck.
Someone remarked to me that some of us have to live in a closet in order to have a life, or perhaps a mere semblance of non-threatening normality. But sometimes one has to open the door and risk unleashing a whiff of radicality that might reveal chasms of thought and disparities in values that do much more than strain placid ties.
Question: why is the question, "So, how much did your flat cost?" inevitably raised by people one has barely known, especially after the opener of "Are you married?" This habit isn't restricted to Singaporeans. What might be a good retort to this query that bears the sub-texts, "Why is it your business to know, unless you are planning on making me a superior offer?"
