After an afternoon of so-so vintages, we were persuaded by the googlybear to sample something more fiery in the evening. So we plonked our ducks at Cafe Iguana for a night of tequilas.
We started with some margaritas.
The starter was Blood Orange and Monkfish Ceviche, coupled with a shot of Corralejo Blanco. Tart and tasty!
Next: Roasted Poblano Crab Cake with Smoke Corn Sauce, paired with Corazón Reposado. Tasted crabby.
This was the second duck comfit of the day: Confit Tamale with Flan of Mole Rojo. The duck was too dry, even for the accompanying Mezcal Del Maguey San Luis.
I don't like shellfish so mrs budak took my share of this Cold Cilantro Soup with Pan Seared Scallop. It came with a shot of El Charro Margarita.
Bestest item was the Lamb Loin Tostone with Roasted Tomato Jus. The paired Jose Cuervo Reserve de la Familia was complex and cognac-like.
Dessert was a Fried Banana Sopapilla with Rompope. The banana was small but sweet, while the concluding Herradura Sling Cocktail was large and bitter.
