A huge silk cotton tree with cavernous buttress roots that overshadow my duck is home to this mouse which ascended the vines that coated the sheltered facets of the kapok's thorny trunk. It settled on a petiole about 2.5 m above and proceeded to disapprove my interest while nibbling on an unidentifiable morsel. The tree offers rich pickings though, as a climbing fig (probably Ficus aurantiacea) is in season, with abundant globes of orange-shaped and coloured fruit that lie beyond the reach of terrestrial ducks but are easily plucked by rodents and other roving beasts of fowl visage.

That's a great image!
